What it is
Weekly full-body sesame oil massage (abhyanga) before a warm bath. Eat warm cooked food with ghee. Add ginger, cinnamon, cloves, black pepper to meals. Drink warm water through the day.

Why it helps
Cold contracts tissues, slows circulation and dries the skin. Warm oil, warm food and warming spices counteract all three. Digestion is naturally strongest in winter — so heavier, more nourishing foods are appropriate.
Ayurvedic perspective
Winter (hemanta and shishira ritu) is the season of strength. Classical texts permit and even encourage richer foods — ghee, nuts, dairy, root vegetables, healthy meats for non-vegetarians.
Modern understanding
Cold-induced peripheral vasoconstriction reduces extremity circulation. Topical warming oils and regular movement counteract this; warm food maintains core temperature with less metabolic stress.
