The Wisdom Jar

Your data, your choice

Delete your account

You can ask us to close your Wisdom Jar account and delete the information tied to it. Here is exactly what that means.

What deletion means

Deletion closes your account and removes the personal information we hold about you, other than records we are required to keep by law. It is permanent — we cannot restore a deleted account, and we cannot recover your saved items or family profiles afterwards.

We do not delete accounts instantly from the browser. Every request is verified first, so that nobody can delete somebody else's account.

What is included

  • Your profile: name, email, date of birth, plan choice and marketing preference.
  • Your family-member profiles (up to four) and their ages.
  • Your account-backed saved items and any notes or follow-up fields on them.
  • Your journal entries stored with your account. Journal data kept only in your own browser is not on our servers — clearing your browser storage removes it.
  • Your sign-in credentials and authentication records.
  • Any pending community submission that has not been published.

What may be retained

  • Records we must keep under Indian tax, accounting or other applicable law — for example payment and invoice records once payments exist. These are not silently deleted; they are retained because the law requires it.
  • A minimal audit record that a deletion request was made and completed.
  • Support emails, for a limited period, as evidence of what was agreed.
  • A community story you asked us to publish, if you do not also ask for its removal. Tell us and we will take it down.

Effect on Premium access

Deleting your account ends any Premium access immediately. Deletion is not a refund request — see the Refund and Cancellation Policy. Because Premium is a one-time payment for a fixed period and never renews automatically, there is no recurring billing to cancel.

How verification works

  1. Sign in to the account you want deleted.
  2. Open the deletion request screen and re-enter your password.
  3. Read the summary of what will be removed.
  4. Type the confirmation phrase exactly.
  5. Submit. The request is processed on our server, never in your browser alone.

We may ask one further verification question by email if anything looks unusual. Requests are actioned only for the verified account holder, and only for records that account owns.

How you will hear back

You receive an acknowledgement email with a reference number straight away, and a completion — or exception — notice by email once the deletion has been processed. Acknowledgement target: Within 2 working days. Support hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM IST.
